This demonstration illustrates how distributors can use a syndicated e-commerce network to greatly expand their business by enabling their trading partners, dealers and contractors to offer their local customers an on-line source for their products without adding the burden of inventory and fulfillment to their daily business operation. This concept for "collaborating to compete" (with large international conglomerates) provides a way to keep local business within your territory while still providing the efficiency of Internet automation of inventory management and rapid fulfillment. The stores in this demonstration show how a distributor (WV Distribution) can enable local dealers to service their customers on-line through centrally operated e-commerce stores that can be individually branded and attached to their existing website for a minimal monthly service charge. The big picture is: a mid-sized HVAC distributor (collaborating with 1000 dealers) can sell their products on-line to homeowners (10's of thousands) through 1000 local stores throughout their service territory (and beyond) without channel conflict.
